Reports in Italy suggest the Hammers are close to sealing a £5.2million deal for the Lazio midfielder.
There is interest from around Europe, including the Bundesliga, and the race is now on to seal Behrami's signature.
The player's agent, Alessandro Beltrami, admits they are now waiting to see what will happen.
"West Ham? We are waiting but there is a possibility," he told skysports.com.
Beltrami claims that Behrami has a number of options available to him.
"The player has had many requests and so we will see," he said.
"We will know something later today [Friday]."
