Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has confirmed there has been an enquiry for full-back George McCartney.

Bruce also prepared to let Kilgallon and Nosworthy move on

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has confirmed there has been an enquiry for George McCartney as he prepares to let the full-back leave. McCartney has not made a first-team appearance for Sunderland since February 2010 and he spent most of last season on loan at Leeds United. Birmingham City have been linked with a move to sign the 30-year-old and Bruce revealed there has been interest in the former Northern Ireland international. Bruce did not disclose which club had enquired about McCartney and also confirmed he is looking to part with fellow defenders Nyron Nosworthy and Matt Kilgallon. "We have had an enquiry about George," said Bruce. "All the players who were out on loan last season - George, Nyron and Matt - need to go out somewhere where they will play games." McCartney joined the Black Cats in 2008 from West Ham United and has made 46 appearances during his time at the Stadium of Light.
