Helguson notched an impressive six goals in sixteen Premiership appearances since joining from Lillestrom in January of this year for £1,500,000.
Fears began to grow over whether the Icelander would stay with the Hornets following their fall to the Nationwide League but, to the delight of the club, the target-man has reaffirmed his intention to stay.
Manager Graham Taylor commented: "Heidar has told us that he does not want to leave. He hoped we would not be looking to sell him."
The Watford boss confirmed his contentment at the strikerÇÖs decision, adding: "It is pleasing to know you can pay £1.5m for a young man who then tells you, when you are relegated, he has signed a three-year contract and wants to honour it."
