An injury to first-choice keeper Alan Marriott has meant that City boss Phil Stant has been forced to throw recent signing Matthew Ghent into first-team action, but after a series of costly errors, it seems that Stant's patience has finally run out with the former Aston Villa youngster.
25-year old Day, meanwhile, will be keen to re-acquaint himself with competitive football after a lengthy spell of inactivity at Watford.
The former England Under-21 keeper currently lies behind both Espen Baardsen and Alec Chamberlain in Graham Taylor's pecking order, although he did make 11 appearances for the Hornets in last season's Premiership campaign.
Day started his career with Premiership side Tottenham.
