Clarets taste success

BURNLEY bounced back into form, and the promotion picture, with a last-gasp win at Watford, while Coventry City also picked up three points.

Watford may have given their own play-off hopes short shrift with their inconsistent early season form but they were determined to throw a spanner into the works of another side with top six ambitions.

Burnley travelled south to Vicarage Road out-of-sorts and they were behind on 23 minutes when Jermaine Pennant, on loan from Arsenal, scored his first Hornets goal from the penalty spot.

The Clarets pressed for an equaliser and on 72 minutes they reaped their reward through Ian Cox and in the last minute stole the points through Paul Weller.

Coventry City boosted their play-off aspirations with a hard-fought success over struggling Rotherham.

A rare goal from Bosnian defender Mo Konjic with 11 minutes remaining broke the deadlock and then Lee Hughes sealed the spoils for the Sky Blues at Highfield Road in the dying moments.
