Ade Akinbiyi proved the difference between the two sides with a first-half brace to seal the three points.
Tony Pulis's men made a fast start and were two-up inside 20 minutes.
Akinbiyi (pictured) opened the scoring on 18 minutes, latching on to Gifton Noel-Williams lay-off to slot home from close range.
One became two just a couple of minutes later when Noel-Williams got his name on the scoresheet by heading home Peter Hoekstra's inviting centre.
Watford gave themselves hope when Heidar Helguson nodded in Neil Ardley's back-post cross, but a third before the break killed their spirit.
Akinbiyi took advantage of confusion in the visitors defence to latch on to a long ball and fire emphatically past Lenny Pidgeley.
The hosts comfortable kept their opponents at bay and have now moved into 11th place in the table.
