Coventry secured a vital 3-2 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road.Goals from Trevor Benjamin, Claus Jorgensen and Michael Doyle gave Coventry City a precious 3-2 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road.
With Cardiff, Gillingham and Nottingham Forest all winning, defeat would have been disastrous for Micky Adams' side, but they dug deep to secure a second successive away win.
Bruce Dyer could have put Watford ahead early on, but he headed wide from Jermaine Darlington's cross and the home side were punished when Stephen Hughes floated in a free-kick and Benjamin headed his first goal for the club.
Watford were back on level terms when the lightning-quick Dyer raced clear down the left and pulled the ball back for Dyer, who had the simple task of placing a low shot past Scott Shearer.
Coventry went on the attack from the start of the second half and they were rewarded when Jorgensen put them ahead, driving into the roof of the net after a Hughes corner was only half cleared.
Doyle gave the visitors a two-goal cushion when he turned in Gary McSheffrey's cross, although they had to hold on after Webber pulled a goal back with five minutes remaining.
