Swindon rejected a bid from Crewe on Friday and also dismissed a second offer from Watford for their star player.
The Robins are anxious to retain Parkin's services and hope to tie the forward down to a new contract.
But Crewe chief Gradi is desperately searching for a replacement for Dean Ashton and is not ready to drop his interest in Parkin.
Gradi is close to finalising a deal for an unnamed striker and will also maintain a watching brief on Parkin.
"I have asked about another striker in the lower leagues and been asked to be kept informed of developments," Gradi told the club's official website.
"I know the manager doesn't want to sell him but may have to and although the wages may be a stumbling block, you never know."
Meanwhile, Swindon midfielder David Duke has reportedly been offered a contract by League Two side Darlington.
