Watford striker Marlon King is looking forward to the challenge of testing himself against The Premiership's best defences.
King was The Hornets' top scorer last season with his 21 goals helping the club to promotion from The Championship.
Though Adrian Boothroyd's side are tipped to struggle this campaign, King is full of optimism ahead of the season opener against Everton on August 19.
The Jamaica international is aware of the calibre of players Watford will be facing, but it is a test he is ready to pass.
"It's a challenge, as was last season," King told Sky Sports News. "Everybody knows this is a big test.
"It's a stage I want to play on. Everyone is excited, some players have been there before and some players haven't.
"You just want to play against the best. When you see players linked to The Premiership - Shevchenko has signed for Chelsea and Roberto Carlos - you hope you get the opportunity to play against them next season.
"You can't ask for a better place to play than The Premiership. You know the players in and around, and you like to test yourself against them - John Terry and all the big defenders.
"I want to stabilise Watford in The Premiership and be a force. I'm confident in my own ability. If I work hard and play to my full potential, there is no reason why I can't do well.
"If you can't take inspiration from the fact that you're playing in one of the best leagues, if not the best, in the world, there is no point in being in football."
