Watford goalkeeper Richard Lee has vowed to fight Ben Foster all the way.
Watford goalkeeper Richard Lee has vowed to fight Ben Foster all the way for the club's number one shirt.
The promising custodian was given a rare opportunity to impress in midweek Carling Cup action against Accrington, and having done precisely that, he aims to put pressure on both Foster and his manager, Adrian Boothroyd.
Lee spent last term on-loan at Blackburn but having now returned to Vicarage Road, the 23-year-old is desperate to be handed more playing time.
Foster is expected to reclaim his starting berth at the weekend against Wigan, with Boothroyd a firm admirer of the man he secured in a loan switch from Manchester United.
"The manager told us that the Accrington game was a great opportunity to play in the first team," Lee revealed.
"He said that for those who did well, there would be a chance of being involved in the game on Saturday.
"At the moment, I'm really enjoying being back at Watford. My aim is to push Ben and to impress the manager as much as I can.
"Last season at Blackburn was good and I can take positives from it - but I never really wanted to be third choice.
"I want to be at a club where I am involved. That is the situation here, and, all things considered, I am happy with life."
