Gavin Mahon has revealed that Marlon King's injury is spurring Watford on.
Gavin Mahon has revealed that Marlon King's injury is spurring Watford on in their efforts to avoid relegation.
King will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury during the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in October.
Watford have struggled in King's absence and are currently bottom of the Premiership, but Mahon wants the striker to experience more top-flight football with the club next term.
"We are all determined to make sure that Marlon will come back to play for us in the Premiership next season," Mahon urged.
"We wish him all the best, and we have been impressed by how hard he is already working.
"Marlon has come back from knee problems before, and I have no doubt he will do it again."
Mahon also explained that Adrian Boothroyd had been trying out a new method in training to encourage the players to be more vocal on the pitch.
"It has been noticeable that the boss has made a slight change to the way we train," he said.
"He has just let us play during the sessions, with fewer stoppages.
"He has left us to sort things out among ourselves during the training games, because he feels we need more talkers on the pitch."
