Clarke Carlisle will serve a one-match ban after the Football Association transferred a caution to the Watford defender.
Danny Shittu picked up a yellow card against Sheffield United on Saturday following a foul on Jon Stead in the 34th minute.
Carlisle was the player who brought down the Blades striker but referee Martin Atkinson booked Shittu in a case of mistaken identity.
A disciplinary commission looked at the incident again and on Tuesday decided to transfer the yellow card to Carlisle.
The former Leeds stopper will be suspended for the game against Reading this weekend, as he had already been booked against Sheffield United.
Meanwhile, Giacomo and Vincenzo Russo have been removed as Watford directors with immediate effect.
"On behalf of the board I would like to express our gratitude to Giacomo and Vincenzo Russo for their contribution to Watford Leisure and their commitment to the football club during their tenure," chairman Graham Simpson said on the club's official website.
