Boothroyd eyes Ellington

Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd has admitted he is interested in signing Nathan Ellington from West Brom.

Watford boss keen on Baggies striker

Adrian Boothroyd has confirmed he is interested in bringing West Brom striker Nathan Ellington to Vicarage Road. Ellington was on target for the Baggies on Tuesday night as they booked their place in the third round of the Carling Cup with a 2-0 victory at Peterborough. Boothroyd told Sky Sports News: "Nathan Ellington is a player I admire and I have done for a very, very long time. "It's just a matter now of seeing what happens, and if it's right and it's the right price and if any player wants to come here then it will get done."

Expectations

But the Hornets boss has already seen a number of deals fall through this summer and is remaining guarded over the possibility of adding to his squad ahead of Friday's transfer deadline. He added: "I've gone after a lot of players and they've not come off. "What I don't want to do is get the expectations up of the fans and the club and the people who work at the club, and then it just all fall flat on its face again. "There is interest in lots of players, I've made lots of phone calls."
