Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd was full of praise for Richard Lee, after watching his stand-in goalkeeper put in an outstanding display at Stoke.
Mart Poom's injury saw Lee promoted from the bench and he did not disappoint with a string of fine saves.
Boothroyd conceded he was happy to take a point from a match that gave Watford their first clean sheet in eight games.
"Richard has done very well, and we've also defended very well generally. It's our first clean sheet for eight games, and that's pleasing," said Boothroyd.
"It was a tough game, and we handled it well. Stoke are a big side, and we knew we were going to get pounded. We were big enough to stand up to it.
"A point at Stoke is never a bad thing, and I'm happy to take it."
Stoke boss Tony Pulis admitted he was disappointed his side did not collect all three points after creating a raft of genuine chances.
"We are disappointed we didn't win because we had those chances," said Pulis.
"You would normally expect Ric (Ricardo Fuller) to put them away, but he's having a little bit of a poor run in front of goal.
"We've just played two teams who were in the Premiership last season - and to take four points out of Sheffield United and Watford isn't bad.
"There was no shortage of endeavour in a hard-fought contest, with defences largely on top."
