Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Nathan Ellington has no future at the Championship outfit.
The 27-year-old striker is currently on a season-long loan at Derby, where he has netted six league and cup goals.
The Rams have the option of signing him for free this summer but this appears unlikely given he has played just twice in 2009.
If he does return to Watford, Rodgers says the player - who became the Hornets' record signing in August 2007 when Adrian Boothroyd paid £3.25million for him - will not feature in his future plans.
Rodgers told the Watford Observer: "If Derby don't want to sign him then there is the possibility that he will come back.
"However, I have made it clear to the club that Nathan's future would lie elsewhere."
