Neil Warnock will remain in temporary charge of QPR at least until the end of the month, according to Sky sources.
The club says it is still searching for a replacement for Chris Ramsey, who was sacked earlier this month.
However, it appears that Warnock will remain in charge for at least the visit to Middlesbrough on Friday and the home game against Leeds a week on Saturday.
The experienced 66-year-old led QPR to the Championship title in 2011 but was sacked early the following year after a poor run of form in the Premier League.
Following stints with Leeds and Crystal Palace, he returned to Loftus Road as a first-team adviser in October.
Warnock said at the time: "Full-time management doesn't interest me anymore but, if I can help Chris and QPR by acting as a sounding board, then that's great."
However, Ramsey was dismissed on November 4 after back-to-back 1-0 defeats at Brentford and then Derby.
Warnock was placed in temporary charge and QPR subsequently drew 0-0 at home to Preston in their final game before the international break.
The R's were hoping to challenge for an immediate return to the top flight after keeping hold of several of their key performers but are currently 13th, eight points adrift of the play-off spots.
