Preston North End have secured the services of full-back Calum Woods after he signed a new contract to the end of the 2017/2018 season.

The 28-year-old signed for the club in 2014 from Huddersfield and was an integral part of the promotion winning side last season.

Woods has featured 14 times this season for Preston and helped them keep their sixth clean sheet in as many games against QPR in their last outing.

The full-back is looking forward to a long future with the club, as they look to build on their promotion from League One.

He told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to have signed a new deal with the Club, and I'm looking forward to the next couple of seasons here.

"Last year was brilliant for everyone and it was great to be a part of that, and we have a great group of lads and staff here."

Woods played 26 times for the Lillywhites last season in a variety of positions across the back line. Manager Simon Grayson believes it makes Woods a key component to the side and said: "Calum is the type of player that manager's love to have in their squads.

"Wherever you ask him to play he will do a good job. Last season he played at left back at Wembley and already this season he has played at centre half and right back for us.

"We are delighted he has extended his stay and look forward to continuing to work with him."
