Lee Carsley will be in charge of Brentford when they take on Bolton in the Championship live on Sky Sports on Monday.
The Bees' interim head coach had said after last weekend's victory over Nottingham Forest that he expected it to be his last game in charge, with the club preparing to make a permanent appointment.
Carsley, 41, was expected to return to his previous role as an academy coach and after a 2-1 win at Griffin Park last Saturday he said: "This was my last game so it was nice to get a win.
"My remit was always to get us back on track and now, with the way we have been playing and a lot of the boys back from injury, I can say I have done that."
Sky sources reported last week that Brentford have got their eyes on Garry Monk's assistant manager at Swansea Pep Clotet.
It is understood discussions are still ongoing but there may also be other options the Bees are interested in, having sacked Marinus Dijkhuizen in September.
Carsley subsequently won September's Manager of the Month award but has insisted throughout his temporary tenure that he does not want the job full-time.
