Hartlepool have praised Derby after the Sky Bet Championship club gave up their share of Saturday's FA Cup receipts.
Derby won the third round tie at Victoria Park 2-1 with Jacob Butterfield and Darren Bent overturning a Jake Gray opener for Ronnie Moore's Pools.
Under Football Association rules, the Rams were entitled to a 45 per cent share of ticket sales from a tie which attracted a crowd of 4,860.
But Derby decided to give back their £23,000 share of the gate receipts to League Two Hartlepool.
"It's a wonderful gesture from Derby but not completely surprising because I knew what a great club they were already," chief executive Russ Green told the official Hartlepool website.
"In a day when clubs at the higher level of the game are often accused of greed it's refreshing to see Derby showing that they are certainly not motivated by money.
"There are good people running the club and I am pretty certain they're going to go on and win promotion to the Premier League this season.
"I would like to thank them sincerely for their generosity and wish them all the very best for the rest of the season."
Derby hit the FA Cup jackpot themselves on Monday night when they were drawn at home to Manchester United in the fourth round, with ties to be played from January 29-February 1.
