Bristol City have signed defender Scott Golbourne from Wolves for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old was a product of the Robins' academy and left to join Reading 10 years ago.

Golbourne has penned a two-and-a-half-year contract after completing a medical and could make his debut in Saturday's Sky Bet Championship visit of Birmingham.

"Scott is a Bristol lad and that's important to us," interim boss John Pemberton told bcfc.co.uk.

"He's a left-back. At the moment we've either got Joe Bryan, who's more of an attacking force, or Derrick Williams, who is more of a defensive type. It's about getting that balance in between.

"Scott has been here before, he's athletic and someone we need for this football club."

Golbourne made 15 appearances for City in his first spell, scoring once in a League Cup tie against Barnet, before leaving in 2006.
