Rotherham United have sacked manager Neil Redfearn with immediate effect.
The Millers have fallen to 22nd in the Sky Bet Championship table after picking up just one win from their last eight matches and Redfearn has paid the price for the team's poor form.
Last Saturday's 2-1 defeat away to relegation rivals Bolton Wanderers proved to be the final straw for the Rotherham board, who made the decision to part ways with Redfearn after a meeting on Monday morning.
Chairman Tony Stewart said: "It is with a heavy heart that we've parted company with Neil today. As we all know, football is a results driven business and with 16 games to go, our aim has to be to retain our Championship status.
"Everyone at the club wishes Neil well with his future career and thank him for his efforts and endeavour.
"Our focus now is 100% behind appointing a first team manager as soon as possible."
Redfearn was only hired by the club in October, when he signed a two-and-a-half-year deal to succeed Steve Evans following his surprise departure.
Redfearn had previously managed Leeds, Scarborough and Halifax.
Rotherham first-team/development coach Andy Hughes is the early 3/1 favourite with Sky Bet to replace Neil Redfearn as the club's manager.
Former Sheffield United and Leeds boss Neil Warnock is on offer at 5/1 to take charge of the Sky Bet Championship strugglers and ex-Swindon chief Mark Cooper is priced up at 6/1.
