Former Swansea defender Dwight Tiendalli is having a trial during Birmingham's training camp in Spain.
Tiendalli, 30, who has also had a loan spell at Middlesbrough, is a free agent after struggling with injury for the past two seasons and has flown out with Blues to the Marbella Football Centre.
"He's a good player, he's played in the Premier League, has got plenty of pace and he can play left-back or right-back," Blues boss Gary Rowett told the club's official website.
"He's very versatile. We will see how it goes this week, there's nothing promised either side, it's just we'll have a look at him, he'll have a look at us and see where it goes."
