Tommy Smith signs new Ipswich Town contract

Ipswich defender Tommy Smith has signed a new three-year contract with the club.

New Zealand international Smith, 26, who had 12 months remaining on his current deal, has the option of a further year.

"Thrilled to have signed a new deal @Official-ITFC. Looking forward to the next three years! Can't wait for this season to start now!" Smith said on his Twitter site @tommysmith1990.

Smith arrived at Portman Road in the summer of 2007 and has made over 250 appearances since his debut in a home defeat to Preston in 2008. He has also had loans spells at Stevenage, Brentford and Colchester.
