Michael Petrasso has extended his QPR contract until summer 2018.

The 21-year-old academy graduate revealed his delight to complete his new deal, and targeted a return to fitness after a thigh problem.

"I've been at QPR since I was 16 and I love the club, so I am really happy to be staying here for longer," he told the club's official website.

"We've seen a lot of youngsters get the chance to play for the first team and that's a great motivation for all of us."

Midfielder Petrasso toured Holland on QPR's pre-season trip but has missed the entire season so far with a thigh muscle injury.

The Canada international now hopes to be back in action next month however.

"I'm aiming to be back to full training in a fortnight, and with the international break coming up that will give me an extra bit of time to get fit," he said.

"I am focused on getting back fit and then earning a regular spot in the first team. That has to be my aim now. Playing for QPR is my goal."
