Brentford winger Lewis Macleod has extended his contract by a year until 2019, despite currently recovering from a serious knee injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season.
Macleod, 22, has been dogged by injuries since he joined from Rangers in 2015 and suffered his latest setback against QPR in October.
He originally signed a three-and-a-half-year deal but did not actually make his debut until more than a year after his arrival at Griffin Park.
Macleod finally had a run in the first team earlier this season, making five assists in 13 appearances, and manager Dean Smith said "he was beginning to show the undoubted potential he possesses".
"He has had a really unfortunate time with injuries since he has joined," Smith said. "He has been missed by us since getting injured but we are pleased with his recovery to date.
"It is refreshing for me to see our club looking after its players after unfortunate injuries and having faith in their recovery."
Macleod has represented Scotland at every youth level from U16 to U21, and was called up to the full international squad for matches against Republic of Ireland and England in 2014.
