Huddersfield midfielder Ivan Paurevic has left the club by mutual consent and will return to Russian side FC Ufa.

Paurevic, 25, joined Huddersfield in the summer when he signed a three-year deal, but has struggled to force his way into the starting line-up.

The Croatian has made just two substitute appearances and will sign a permanent deal with FC Ufa.

"Ivan has worked very hard in training every day since arriving at the club in the summer, but he has found it hard to get a starting shirt because of the form of Aaron Mooy, Jonathan Hogg, Dean Whitehead and Philip Billing," Town head coach David Wagner told the club's official website.

"We totally understand that Ivan wants to play regular football and this transfer will give him the chance to do that.

"He is a fantastic character and everyone here wishes him all the best at FC Ufa and for the future."
