Brighton's Glenn Murray will serve a one-match suspension after his wrongful dismissal claim was rejected by the Football Association.
The Championship promotion hopefuls appealed against the red card shown to the veteran striker during the 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday last Friday.
Murray will sit out the home game against Cardiff on Tuesday night where a win will take Chris Hughton's side back to the Championship summit.
Murray was the first of three players to be dismissed in a feisty Sky Live encounter at the AMEX stadium, with the on-loan Bournemouth player adjudged to have deliberately handled the ball in the penalty area.
Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri saw the subsequent spot-kick saved.
Anthony Knockaert scored his second goal of the match late on to seal the win for the 10-men before Forestieri's team-mates Steven Fletcher and Sam Hutchinson were also sent off in the closing stages.
