Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez praised the resilience of his players after an entertaining 0-0 draw at Reading stretched their unbeaten Sky Bet Championship run to 11 games.
The result gave league leaders Newcastle seven points from three away matches in eight days, after previous wins at Brighton and Huddersfield.
"I'm quite happy with that return," Benitez said. "To play these three games and get seven points is quite good, quite impressive. I am also pleased for the away fans as they always go back with a smile on their faces.
"Our good away form is down to the attitude of the players. The way that they work, the confidence that they have, is the key.
"You can prepare any game plan but it depends on the players. They have been really good in these three games - and the whole season away. They understand what we are trying to do and they put everything into it."
After Brighton's 2-0 win at Rotherham, Newcastle's lead at the top has been cut to three points.
"It was a difficult game tonight," Benitez said. "But we had enough chances to score and, although we have lost two points, maybe we can be happy with one point.
"It's important to be solid. The team is consistent and knows what to do. If we can carry on doing that, we can draw games but we will win a lot of them."
