MK Dons have signed Middlesbrough winger Marcus Tavernier on loan until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old made his breakthrough at the Riverside Stadium last year after first catching the eye of former manager Garry Monk in pre-season.

He scored against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup on October 24 and started against Reading in the Sky Bet Championship four days later.

Tavernier has played eight times this season and scored again when he got the winner against Sunderland in November.

His progress was confirmed when he received his first call-up to the England Under-19 squad and it was reported that Arsenal and Everton had both noted his talent.

Tavernier recently committed his long-term future to Boro by signing a three-and-a-half year contract but he is now set for a loan spell at Stadium MK.
