Queens Park Rangers new-boy Simon Walton has undergone surgery on his recently fractured leg, an injury which comes as a major blow to manager John Gregory's final preparations before the new season.
The 19-year-old completed his switch to Loftus Road this summer and was tipped to be a first-team regular for his new employers.
However, after having a metal plate and two pins inserted into his injured leg, he now faces six months on the sidelines.
The former-Leeds midfielder signed for the Championship side from Charlton for £200,000, but now faces a lengthy lay-off as he awaits making his debut.
Walton picked up the injury in a 2-1 friendly victory over Premiership side, Fulham.
