Hull progressed to the next round of the Carling Cup with a 3-0 victory at Crewe, while Wolves defeated Bradford 2-1.
Wolves could not break down Bradford in the first half but quickly opened the scoring after the break, Freddy Eastwood netting his first competitive goal for the club.
Jody Craddock then doubled Wolves' advantage with a stunning volley from outside the area after 49 minutes.
Kyle Nix set up an exciting finale with a goal for Bradford 13 minutes from time, but Wolves held on.
Hull had lost their first league game of the season and Crewe had won theirs, but there was no chance of an upset once Michael Bridges scored for the Championship team a minute before half-time.
Richard Garcia grabbed Hull's second ten minutes into the second half and Stephen McPhee made it 3-0 in the 70th minute.
