Forward unaware of West Brom interest

Derek Riordan insists he knew nothing of rumours he could have signed for West Bromwich Albion. The Scotland international has struggled to make an impact at Celtic and was linked with a reunion with his former Hibernian boss Tony Mowbray at The Hawthorns. Reports had claimed that Riordan was lined up to join the Championship club prior to Friday's transfer deadline. But, after making his first start of the season against St Mirren on Sunday, Riordan played down the speculation about his future.

Quite disappointing

"I couldn't tell you (about West Brom)," said Riordan. "I didn't know anything about it. "I am happy to be here, but it is quite disappointing when you are not playing every week, like I was at Hibs. "But the gaffer said he wanted me and I was happy with that. I just had to wait until my chance came and hopefully I did enough for him against St Mirren. "I had two assists and that's what you are supposed to do when you are out on the wing. "But the main thing is that we won and got the points in the bag."
