Stoke City's Rory Delap finally achieved closure on his injury troubles by scoring his first goal for 11 months against Hull last weekend.
The midfielder had been out since October when he broke his leg against Sunderland, but his goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw has seen him put the past behind him.
He told Skysports.com: "It's always nice to get that first goal for the club, but I should have got it a couple of weeks earlier in the home game against Wolves."
Delap last scored against Everton 18 months ago for Sunderland. Now, having been ever present so far this season, Delap is quick to thank the work of his physio in his rehabilitation, and hopes his run in the side continues.
Praise for physio
"It's been a very long journey back from the injury and Dave (Watson) has been there with me all the way really," added Delap.
"Sometimes, when you want to push on during rehab he's had to stop me for my own good to make sure I go at the right pace.
"And at other times, it's been him pushing me on when I maybe haven't felt like it.
"He's been a top man to me because sometimes he's been out there doing some of the stuff with me because that's always better than working on your own. He's like that with all the lads, working ridiculous hours sometimes."
Delap will be looking to continue his form on Tuesday when Stoke face Barnsley at the Britannia Stadium.
