Queens Park Rangers have pipped Hull City to the loan signing of Birmingham City striker Rowan Vine.
Hull boss Phil Brown had revealed he held talks with his Blues counterpart Steve Bruce regarding a deal for Vine.
However, Championship rivals QPR have now agreed a month-long deal for the forward, who has not made a league appearance for Birmingham this season.
"The major factor for me was the opportunity to stake a claim for a first-team spot," Vine told the club's official website.
"I've been surplus to requirements at Birmingham and this is a fantastic opportunity for me."
Vine also admitted that QPR caretaker manager Mick Harford, who he worked with at Luton, influenced his decision.
He added: "Obviously knowing Mick was a big pull. He knows what I can do as a player and it's up to me to produce the goods.
"He's a great coach and a good man, and I'm looking forward to working with him again."
Vine could make his debut for QPR in Wednesday's Championship game with Colchester United, where he spent the 2003/04 season on loan.
