Scunthorpe United defender Kelly Youga will serve a four-match suspension after losing his appeal against the red card received against Blackpool.
Youga was sent off in Monday's 1-1 draw with Blackpool after lunging into a tackle on the visitors' Stephen Crainey.
Iron boss Nigel Adkins was originally inclined not to appeal, feeling it would not be worthwhile before having a change of heart.
However, Adkins' belief has been borne out after the Football Association's disciplinary commission rejected the appeal.
Youga must now serve a four-game ban as it was his second sending-off of the season, with his appearance against Blackpool his first since being dismissed against Coventry City last month.
The youngster, who is on loan at Glanford Park from Charlton Athletic, will now miss Scunthorpe's Championship games against QPR, Ipswich, Norwich and Preston.
