Wednesday reject Rangers' approach

Sheffield Wednesday have turned down offers from Championship rivals QPR for Tommy Spurr and Jermaine Johnson. Jamaican international winger Johnson and defender Spurr have both made 18 league appearances for the Owls this season, and as such are key components of Brian Laws' squad. Johnson only moved to Hillsbrough during the January transfer window last season and Spurr has recently progressed from the club's youth set-up. QPR currently sit bottom of the Championship, with only one win in their last nine games, and are obviously keen to bolster their squad in the New Year.

Top assets

However, Sheffield Wednesday chief executive Kaven Walker told the club's official website: "We have no intention of selling either Tommy Spurr or Jermaine Johnson. "These two players are both top assets in our playing squad."
