Leicester boss wields axe

Leicester boss has told seven players they are free to leave the club in the January transfer window. The Foxes have continued to struggle in the Championship since Holloway's appointment a month ago and he is keen to streamline his squad. Shaun Newton, Carl Cort, Jimmy Nielsen, Hossein Kaebi and Sergio Hellings have been placed on the transfer list. Rab Douglas and Alan Maybury, who were told in the summer they were surplus to requirements, have also been named. "I feel for them. They need to get on with their lives," Holloway told the Leicester Mercury. "They did not have a future here, and I wish them the best of luck. "I have sent them away from now until the transfer window opens so that they can try to get themselves fixed up with moves or trials at other clubs."
