Midfielder faces hostile reception at Elland Road

Leeds manager Dennis Wise believes midfielder Shaun Derry has 'snubbed' the Elland Road club. Assistant manger Dave Bassett has revealed that Wise asked Derry, who is on loan at Crystal Palace, to return to Leeds in a bid to solve a midfield injury crisis ahead of the New Year's Day home defeat to Oldham. However, Derry - who has a year-and-a-half to run on his Leeds contract - is said to have refused to return to the Yorkshire club to leave Wise fuming. "Shaun decided he did not want to return to come back and help Leeds," Bassett told the Yorkshire Post. "Dennis is not best pleased in that respect because we were down to the bare bones. "It has left a sour taste in Dennis' mouth because he feels he has been snubbed. He is very angry. "Dennis feels Shaun is a Leeds player and has 18 months left with us. Palace only pay part of his wages. "If Shaun had said to Palace that he wanted to come back then that would have been the end of it and if he had come back he would have played." And Bassett believes that if Derry returns to Leeds when his loan expires on 19th January he could find himself out of Wise's plans. "If (Palace manager) Neil Warnock does not want to sign him then Shaun has a bit of a problem," Bassett added. "He will come back and have a problem with the manager."
