Defender to rejoin Potters subject to passing a medical

Stoke City have agreed a £300,000 deal to bring Andy Griffin back to the club from Derby County. The full-back started his career at Stoke and spent most of last season on loan at the Britannia Stadium from Portsmouth. However, he opted to join Derby on a free transfer last summer and has made 15 appearances for the Premier League strugglers. New Rams boss Paul Jewell, though, has decided to dispense with the 28-year-old, who has accepted a return to Stoke. He will undergo a medical on Friday morning before completing the move, with the Championship side ecstatic at setting up a deal for Griffin. "We are delighted to have come to an agreement to bring Andy back to the club," Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's official website. "He was here last season and performed exceptionally well for us and manager Tony Pulis has been keen to sign him for some time."
