Preston have won the race to sign Polish international goalkeeper Grzegorz Szamotulski on a six-month contract.
The Deepdale outfit have been able to complete their swoop for Szamotulski as he became a free agent following the expiry of his six-month deal with Dundee United in January.
The highly-rated shot-stopper was a target for Rangers before they brought in Neil Alexander from Ipswich, with a number of rival Championship clubs also reported to be monitoring his progress.
PNE boss Alan Irvine made his move for Szamotulski with Wayne Henderson expected to miss the majority of the remainder of the season following surgery on his back.
The new arrival will be available for selection for Saturday's home date with Coventry, provided the expected international clearance arrives in time.

Szamotulski told the club's
official website: "I've always had a good relationship with the fans and I believe that that will be the case at Preston North End.
"I am very happy to be here and I am very happy to have signed the contract. I know that Preston are a good club in the Championship, a solid club.
"I want to play as well as possible and help the club to maintain a healthy position in the Championship and show the fans and the club what I can do."
Preston chairman Derek Shaw added: "Grzegorz is someone who the manager admires, he's one we have tried to bring in over the last couple of weeks but we have finally got it done.
"We've had a little bit of competition from other clubs in the championship but we are delighted to have got it done on Wednesday evening."
