Thumb injury worse than first expected

Southampton goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski has been ruled out for the rest of the season because of injury. The Polish shot-stopper has been struggling with a thumb injury and the problem has been found to be worse than first feared. Bialkowski has undergone surgery on the injury and he is expected to be sidelined for up to three months. Michael Poke, who was recently recalled from his loan spell at Torquay, will continue as back-up to regular No.1 Kelvin Davis for the remainder of the campaign.
