Dean Hammond has moved to quell speculation about his future by declaring that he wants to stay at Colchester.
Hammond only moved to Layer Road from Brighton in the January transfer window but he has not been able to halt Colchester's slide.
They are 13 points adrift of safety and could be relegated from the Championship this weekend, but Hammond insists he will not be looking for a move elsewhere.
"Colchester have given me the opportunity to play and I want to play for them," the midfielder told the Colchester Gazette.
"I'm happy here, the boys have made me feel welcome and I'm really enjoying my football.
"We've got a new stadium around the corner, we have a good squad and leaving has not even entered my mind."
Pat Baldwin, meanwhile, could be sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering a dislocated shoulder in the 4-3 defeat at West Brom.
Baldwin was making his first appearance since January following a knee injury, but his comeback lasted just four minutes before he was hurt in an aerial challenge.
"That just about sums up my luck this season," said the defender.
"Even just a basic dislocation means I will probably be out for three or four weeks, which means that I might struggle to get back this season."
