West Brom striker Kevin Phillips has denied reports he has turned down a new contract with the club.

Striker still to decide future

West Brom striker Kevin Phillips has branded speculation claiming he has turned down a new contract and will leave the club in the summer as 'nonsense'. Phillips, whose current deal expires this summer, has scored 24 goals to help the Baggies to the verge of promotion back to the Premier League. Reports on Wednesday suggested Phillips had turned down the club's offer of a new deal and that Wigan and Derby were chasing his signature, but the 34-year-old has dismissed the rumours.

Nonsense

"I want to stress to the supporters that this is nonsense. I haven't rejected a new contract and I haven't a clue who the so-called source of the story is supposed to be," said Phillips. "We've got two massive games coming up and we're all going to sit down after our season has finished and try to come to an agreement over the future. "This is what my agent told a local newspaper two weeks ago and nothing has changed since." Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace has also confirmed negotiations with the top scorer and his representatives over a new deal are 'ongoing'.
