Burnley boss Owen Coyle is refusing to concede defeat in his attempts to sign striker Martin Paterson despite Scunthorpe issuing a hands-off warning on their prized asset.
Acting Iron chairman Rex Garton admitted on Tuesday that the Clarets had made inquiries over the 14-goal frontman, and insisted: "We do not want to sell Martin Paterson."
But Coyle seemed undeterred by the snub and says the club are willing to step up the chase in a bid to secure Paterson's signature.
"We are trying our best to bring him to Burnley, and we want to agree a transfer fee with Scunthorpe," Coyle told the Burnley Citizen:
"Basically, that's where we are at the moment. Whether we re-visit the situation, we'll have to wait and see.
"We won't ever reveal in public how much we offer for a player, but if Scunthorpe say it's not enough, then we can do one of two things."
