Barnsley manager Simon Davey believes Brian Howard could still be at the club next season having not received a single approach for the midfielder.
The 25-year-old was expected to be lured away from Oakwell after playing a starring role in the Tykes' remarkable FA Cup run last season.
But although the former Southampton trainee is yet to sign a new deal with the Championship outfit, Davey insists they are yet to be contacted regarding his availability.
"There is no news and we've had no enquiries," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "There's been a lot of speculation, but that's all it is.
"There's nothing from the club. We've not put a valuation on his head and we've not had any enquiries so as far as we're concerned, he's a Barnsley player."
Davey is thought to be interested in Derby's Lewis Nyatanga and Hibernian's Alan O'Brien, while Rob Atkinson and Paul Reid have been linked with moves away from Oakwell.
But the Barnsley boss has confirmed he is still waiting to strike in this summer's transfer market.
"There's nothing happening and it's early days," he added. "It's still early June and if you look at last season the first signings were not until the start of July.
"Obviously we've identified our targets but until a deal has been done, we won't ever speak about them, and that's been our policy for the last two years."
