Southend boss wants Wolves to drop asking price

Southend boss Steve Tilson wants to sign defender Charlie Mulgrew on a permanent basis, but claims Wolves' asking price is too high. Tilson's comments come after the 24-year-old left-back spent a successful loan stay with the Shrimpers last season. Both Mulgrew and the League One outfit now want to make the move permanent, but Tilson believes Wolves' asking price - thought to be £150,000 - is too much.

Bring in

Tilson told the Southend Echo: "I would definitely like to bring in Charlie. "He did well for us when he was here on loan and now we want to sign him permanently, but at the moment Wolves are asking for too much money." Mulgrew wants to move on after only featuring six times for Wolves since his arrival from Celtic in 2006.
