Mellor and Brown confident ahead of new season

Preston North End forwards Neil Mellor and Chris Brown are confident the club can put right their disappointing 2007/08 season. The Lilywhites struggled last term - despite competing for promotion in previous campaigns - managing only to finish 15th in the Championship table. However, striker Mellor, who struck 10 goals last term, is sure that Alan Irvine's side can respond in positive fashion. "We have always been amongst the play-offs but last season was a disappointment," Mellor told Sky Sports News. "Hopefully we can bounce back from that - the players are more than capable of doing so."

Confidence

Brown, meanwhile, has echoed his team-mate's thoughts, insisting that there is strong belief among the squad that the 2008/09 season will be a success. "I think there is a confidence in the team that we can go to places and claim victory," Brown said. "Also I think teams will come here and be scared to play us now because we are very hard to break down. "Hopefully we will get off to a great start next season." Preston kick-off the new season away to Ipswich Town on 9th August.
