Striker out to prove he can still cut it after ankle problems

Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws admits it is going to be a 'big season' for Francis Jeffers. The striker joined the Owls last summer, but was restricted to two goals in just 12 appearances for the club. He was plagued by an ankle ligament problem and it sparked rumours that the England cap would be offloaded. But he is now back in training and Owls boss Laws is keen to give the 27-year-old an opportunity to prove his worth. "Franny has worked right through the summer while the other players were on holiday," said Laws in The People. "It's a big season for him and he wants to prove to everybody what a good player he still is."
