Coventry City manager Chris Coleman expects Stephen Wright to be out for at least four weeks with an Achilles injury.
Wright has made just two first-team appearances for the Sky Blues since joining the club on a free transfer in the summer.
The full-back has not recovered from a recent Achilles complaint and now faces an extended spell on the sidelines.
"Wrighty's not going to be ready for a while and the disappointing thing is that he's probably going to be out for the next four to six weeks," Coleman told the club's official website.
"We know what the problems are with his Achilles and he is just going to have to take a back seat and let it heal.
"It's a big disappointment for us because Stephen was excellent in pre-season and we are desperate to bring in a right-back to help us in that area."
Coleman also has an injury concern over Jay Tabb ahead of Saturday's Championship encounter with Preston North End.
He added: "Tabby has been really struggling with his feet (blisters) and he is going to be touch and go for us. He's been playing and training in a lot of discomfort and we've got to assess him ahead of the game.
"We have to weigh up whether to keep playing him or whether we take him out of the team for a while."
