Wolves midfielder Michael Kightly is refusing to get carried away following his side's impressive start to the Championship season.
The Molineux outfit are sitting at the top of the table following a 3-1 weekend victory at Preston and are being talked about as promotion favourites.
But Kightly has told skysports.com that the Wolves squad are not allowing their focus to slip amidst murmurs of a return to the Premier League.
"It feels good to be top of the league, but it's only six games in and we are not going to get carried away," said Kightly.
"It might be an old cliché, but we are just going to take it game by game.
"We've missed out a couple of times on promotion, with us missing out on the play-offs last year and we want to be better than that this year.
"If we can do better than last year then hopefully we'll get promoted, but there is only six games gone, so there are 40 left, which means there is a long way to go."
Mick McCarthy's squad has only a handful of members over the age of 30, and Kightly believes this will stand them in good stead over the course of the season.
"It is brilliant to be in such a young side," added Kightly. "Credit to the gaffer and coaching staff for bringing the young players through.
"We've looked very fit and I think that is a major part of our game because we can get around a bit better than some of the older players."
